"To support the people we serve by helping connect their passion and talents to community opportunities."
Mike grew up in North Olmsted Ohio and graduated from North Olmsted High school in 1982. After High school he spent two years at Kent State University and then finished his undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University. In 2000 Mike went back to school and received his Graduate degree from Kent State University where he studied Rehabilitation counseling.
Mike has been married for 36 years and together he and his wife raised three great children in the house they built in Hinckley Ohio in 1999, where Mike and Melanie still live today. Both Brittany and Collin work for My Choice and Mikayla is a stay-at-home mom with three beautiful children of her own.
Mike worked for Cuyahoga County Board of DD for over 30 years and when he decided to retire back in 2015, he knew his next adventure would be to start his own program, which would focus on supporting the people we serve by helping them connect their passions and talents to community opportunities. In the beginning Mike focused primarily on Job placement services, which offers supports in the areas of job development, on-the-job training and follow along services. In 2018 Mike decided to expand services to include Vocational/Habilitation services, Adult Day services, and Transportation services, which are the same services My Choice offers today. When not working Mike enjoys traveling, playing with his grandchildren, and cooking.
Brittany started her career working at Brooklyn AAC. She had 10 great years there before deciding to switch paths and join her dad in building My Choice.
Brittany loves her job! She likes helping others build skills and learn new things, and coming in and chatting and laughing with everyone who attends My Choice. Her favorite part of her job is helping others discover their unique talents and helping them accomplish new things.
In her free time, Brittany enjoys games, reading, watching Bravo, traveling, adding to her shoe and handbag collection, going to musicals, and hanging out with friends and family.
Melanie started her career with Cuyahoga County Board at Rocky River AAC back in the early 80's taking some time off to have three children and returning to Cuyahoga County working in the community with enclave groups at Holiday Inn in Westlake and at River Copy and Mail supervising the data entry group. After returning to school and becoming a registered nurse; Melanie left Cuyahoga County and worked at Medina Hospital and later worked for REM and Northeast Care before returning to Cuyahoga County as the nurse at Parma AAC. Melanie joined My Choice in 2020. In her free time Melanie is a country gal at heart, having lived most of her life in Hinckley and enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, walks around Hinckley Lake and spending time with her three grandchildren.
